Curators of Sweden is one of the most awarded campaigns in the world

image

By the end of 2012 we counted  the number of awards that we’ve won for Curators of Sweden. We’re now up to a staggering 28 national and international awards. This is a fantastic figure but even more so if you realize that this includes wining a Grand Prix in Cannes for creativity and determination and a gold medal in Effie Awards for efficiency in communication. Recently, the advertising guru James Hurman wrote a story about this in the gunnreport.com. This is great reading and amongst others he claims:

”Going all the way and winning a gold award at either Cannes or the Effies is bloody difficult. Of the hundreds of thousands of campaigns produced around the world this year past, 141 were creative enough to win a Gold Lion and 300 were effective enough to win a Gold Effie”

”And winning both – taking home a Gold Lion and a Gold Effie for the same campaign – is a delicious rarity. A high watermark of human achievement in creative communications, and the kind of work we’d all love to be able to stake our names to.”

I’ve also been following how Curators of Sweden has spread over the Internet like wild fire. In October last year you would get 69 000 hits on the term “Curators of Sweden”. Today you’ll get a slightly higher number: 297 000 hits! And the PR value is closing in to 40 000 000 USD. Klout Score has been as high as 80.

When I was a student at the university (some years ago) me and a friend wrote a paper on the subject of how the new media had the ability to connect people cross the globe and contribute to democratic insights and actions. The professor thought that we had smoked crack and he didn’t understand this at all. I’d love to call him up today and politely say “I told you so!!!”. This film illustrates graphically the Twitter flow during the Egyptian Revolution. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Professor X!
